Worried about the weather for Varedero and as far south as Holguin for next month. Should we (husband and wife) be concerned? We usually travel in late february to late March.

We really want a "budget friendly" holiday because we would like to take a second trip in late March. For late March we are not worried about the weather as we have a little more budget, therefore it should not be a problem finding a resort that we like.

Back to January; Thinking of going/ flying as far south as Santiago de Cuba and we are looking at the Buccanero:
1) Is the weather Ok for the last week of January that far south?
2) Looking at the comments on this resort; it is a three star and we could live with that. Should we have any other concernes that are not mentioned on the discussion forum? (You could PM me if you don't want to post)
3) I am a Scuba diver and there is no indication that there is a Dive shop nearby. Does anyone know? how is the diving and any special place worht going.
4) Drinks: do they have amber rum? we don't like the clear / white rum. how about the beer, is it on tap or do they offer cans and / or bottles
5) is there a "legit" Cigar shop nearby or on the resort as I don't like to purchase on the beach.
6) How long of a ride from the airport to the Buccenero?
7) Final question: if you were to fly to Santiago, would you choose another resort for the same price?

Visitors can sample Cuban food and cocktails, learn to dance Cuban-style, delight in the music and shop for souvenirs and arts and crafts in open-air markets or the growing number of shops. Watersports are available for almost every taste.
