Used to go to St Maarten, we recently tried a new way of discovering the island: we joined a kitesurfing cruise.

These seem to usually be dedicated to experienced riders but we managed to organise some lessons on board and got to chance to discover the island again.
Doing our first Kitesurfari was a completely different experience: the beaches we knew from land suddenly appeared from out at sea, we discovered spots we didn't know, the team looking after us was tonnes of fun, very professional (we were up and going on our boards at the end of the trip! Thanks to kitesurfari sxm team) and got us to look at this island we thought we knew from a brand new angle.
We're now looking at the clouds, wind and swell forecast and get all excited when we spot white caps!

We also got to snorkel, fish, visit the nearby islands of Anguilla and Tintamarre during our kitesurfing cruise and even gave surfing a try....
Smile

Now that we're hooked, we will definitely consider this type of holidays in the future again (those guys (www.kitesurfarisxm.com) go anywhere in the Caribbean, so the choice is wide!)

We really recommend this type of adventure holidays to anyone being after some thrilling vacations: it's been some kind of awakening to us and we're looking forward the next trip....

Exploring the boat channels around the island is a great beginner paddle. Air Padre Kiteboarding and Watersports Rentals offers Kayak rentals direcly on an excellent canal system, with easy water access and parking.
