Hi,
My wife and I went to Turks and Caicos last February with another couple, and stayed at the Somerset on Grace. We absolutely loved it. We would go back to the same place this year, but our travel companions want to try something new.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a place similar to T&C and the Somerset? We definitely want something classy and relatively upscale. The only minor complaint we had about T&C was a lack of night life, but we are not huge partiers. We like to snorkel, sail the hobies, and sit on the beach and stare at beautiful water.
Our price range is around $500 a night.
Thanks,
Steve |

Barbados has great beaches, restaurants (where you can dine by candleight as you look out onto the sea, the Bajan buffets, or just have the beach burger)forts, and nightlife. We prefer the south coast and you will find it more trendy. Many shopping opportunities, countless restaurants and that active nightlife you are seeking. You can walk around Bridgetown and get quite the tour. It's fun to drive and see the entire island. The east side is very rugged and the water pounds against the extremely large boulders. Northpointe (on the north side)is very secluded and the west coast has many hotels.
It doesn't have the spanish colonial architecture as it has a British atmosphere. Afternoon tea is still a ritual. It is a more populated island, but still has a Caribbean feel to it.
The snorkeling isnt as great as Caymans but in my opinion its better than T&C.
The entire west coast north of Bridgetown has water calm enough for snorkeling. Since it is a coral island, even small reefs provide at least decent wade-in snorkeling from most of the hotels and beaches along the west coast. Snorkeling boat tours will go to larger reefs, including turtle sightings. Folkestone Underwater Park is near Holetown, just south of the wonderful Coral Reef Club resort. |

The Aruba is also renowned for its white, sandy beaches and eye catching surroundings. The Palm Beach is the lovely beach for spending romantic vacations and for sailing. It is covered by beautiful palm trees and has a peaceful and calm environment for secluded vacations. _________________ Romantic bed and breakfasts |
